How to rehydrate your Cuban cigar

All cigars dry up after a definite period of time if not cared for. Same law applies to Cuban cigars. Lets say you got a box of Cuban cigars, placed it in your home and went for a business trip. Once you come back, you recognize that you forgot about your little beauties and when you run back to that secret place your find out that your Cuban cigars are literally dying.
Even though they were in the humidor at the time, without recharging it, it may not have kept the relative humidity that was necessary to keep them moist. What you end up with is a box of dry, unusable cigars. But are they actually unusable?
Lucky for you, there are some ways of bringing your cigars back from the dead. The idea is to hydrate your cigars back to being. You have to be truly careful here because too much dampness can definitely expand your cigars to the max. The worst case scenario is that you finally decided to rehydrate your Cuban cigars but it was just not good enough and your Cuban cigars are gone to a better place. See just like everything in life has an expiration date, so do Cuban cigars. Once you get them, smoke them and you should worry about it ever again. Or if you want to share it with your friends than go get a portable humidor and take it with you. Forgetting about Cuban cigars in this way is no excuse at all.
Put your Cuban cigars in distinct plastic bags and seal them with cedar strips. This is almost an instant way to get the humidity right for your cigars so they can start coming back to life. You’ll notice that after a few days the color of the cigars would get a little darker. This shows that its working and now you have to step up your game and do something else to speed up the process and instill more life in your Cuban cigars.
For completely dried up cigars, the process is very different. I suggest get some flat bottom based Tupperware, fill the base with water and cover it with cedar strips. Make sure the cedar strips remain dry as you will be placing your Cuban cigar on top of it. Put it in their and let your cigar ‘recover’ slowly. It might take months but once it gets back to life, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Recharge a portable humidor or table one and place the Tupperware in the humidor. Make sure the top is healed off completely. You can leave a little bit of opening in it but not too much. It is possibly going to take you a month before your cigars get back in shape again so you can enjoy them.
